ZeroOne — Collective Recovery Platform for Cross-Condition Squads

ZeroOne is a full-stack recovery platform where eight people with different health conditions share a squad and grow one shared living artifact, the Onggi, through daily activities. Built for the 16th e-ICON World Contest under SDG 3.

Overview

Most recovery apps optimize for one condition and one user. ZeroOne deliberately mixes conditions inside a fixed squad: a breathing exercise nudges the same vessel squadmates are looking at, so individual action and collective state stay visibly connected. Healing Chain adds a second loop, where every matched user is both mentor and mentee, so support flows in both directions instead of top-down.

I designed the full UI/UX and product architecture, then built it end to end: auth and multi-step onboarding, squad assignment, the recovery activity loop, journal, assistant, notifications, and realtime updates. Several navigation items remain roadmap stubs with design previews and a planned badge, kept honest in the product rather than faked.

What it does

Cross-condition squads

A fixed-size squad mixes eight people with different chronic conditions, one condition per member enforced server-side, so support comes from outside your own diagnosis rather than an echo chamber.

The Onggi shared artifact

Squad progress feeds one living vessel with five squad-level dimensions and a resonance score. Individual actions visibly move collective state, so the causal link between effort and outcome is legible in the UI.

Healing Chain mentorship

Every matched user is both mentor and mentee. Lantern sparks, journey timelines, and impact panels make two-directional support a structural part of the product, not a forum feature.

Healing Journal

Private, owner-scoped reflections with mood and emotional tags, peer stories matched by emotional overlap, and AI feedback that runs crisis detection before any model call.

AI assistant

A slide-over assistant available from any screen. Diet and exercise advice requests are redirected locally instead of being answered by a model, keeping clinical guidance out of scope.

Realtime activity loop

Activity claim, complete, and freeze runs through a six-hour lock and a server transaction, then broadcasts Onggi and impact updates over Socket.io rooms scoped per squad.

Why it matters

Chronic recovery fails most often at adherence, not information. Tying one person's daily activity to a shared artifact their squad can see turns adherence into a social commitment, and pairing people across conditions removes the comparison trap of single-condition communities. The mentorship loop then gives every member a reason to stay after their own streak stabilizes.
