Nemory — Korean Vocabulary Through Mnemonics

Nemory is a Korean vocabulary app built around memory stories rather than rote repetition, so words stick past the exam. Available on iOS, Android and web.

Nemory Korean vocabulary app

Overview

Most vocabulary apps optimise for volume of repetitions. Nemory optimises for the moment of recall, attaching a memory story to every word so retrieval has something to hook onto. Vocabulary is organised by textbook chapter rather than by frequency lists, so it maps onto what a learner is actually studying that week.

What it does

Mnemonic-first learning

Every word carries a memory story, and users can write and share their own for difficult words.

Chapter decks

Vocabulary split by textbook chapter, each word showing Hangul, romanisation, English meaning and pronunciation audio, filterable by learned and not-yet-learned.

Configurable practice

Choose chapters, choose which words to include, and set direction between Korean to English or English to Korean before a session.

Progress that adapts

Daily streaks, a streak calendar, a 30-day consistency score, and study plans that project a completion date from the learner's own pace.

Tech stack

  • React
  • TypeScript
  • Vite
  • Tailwind CSS
  • shadcn/ui
  • Supabase

Why it matters

Vocabulary is where most self-directed Korean learners stall, because drilling produces recognition without recall. Attaching a story to each word and tying practice to the learner's actual textbook makes the daily session short enough to sustain and specific enough to be useful.
